What Does My Health Insurance Cover?

Health insurance is an issue that is not only very polarizing, but also fear, because the environment and policies that are used constantly changing. Most people are not sure what is covered, at what rate, at any given office until an event occurs that requires attention. Barb recently found that despite all the preparation and research that a person can carry the accurate understanding of their situation, things can still go wrong.

Barb and her husband Bill recently planned a holiday in Africa. To travel to this foreign land, who attended a seminar travel clinic, which is paid for out of pocket because they knew in advance that their health insurance did not cover the visit, in order to acquire the best and most accurate information about the type of vaccines, medications and possible health risks that should be taken into account. The doctor at the clinic was fantastic and we spent a bit of time to explain what was at stake in their specific areas of travel, different types of vaccines that should be and when you should have them before you travel, and the types of drugs that should bring to everyday use.

Barb wrote everything and called her member service number to return home to find out which drugs and vaccines would be covered when she and Bill went to his office family physicians. It turned out, he was told, all necessary vaccinations would be covered, except one, which is not offered in any of your net clinics, as only needed for the trip. Barb and Bill returned to the travel clinic to obtain and pay, that particular shot.

The next step was when Barb made a joint appointment for her and Bill to go to their family clinic and get the rest of the vaccines. Since these were all to be covered by insurance, the two of them saw no reason to pay for them out of pocket travel clinic. A couple of months after the clinic visit family health, received a stay-mailed statement that Bill was $ 136 for appointment. Barb owed nothing. This makes no sense, so that phone calls began to clear the bill.

Four months later, the project is still pending due to Barb has spoken to several representatives of member services department of health insurance have repeatedly stated that the services are covered in full and after the bill is reintroduced, there is no charge. But people family clinic presented again several times, and the bill is returned continually Bill only owed money for the visit.
It's really confusing to try to figure out how two people on the same date, with the same insurance, same services and the same preparation may have different amounts due. Health insurance is very difficult to understand!
